Super Heavyweight Mike Zawilinski of the Iron Revolution, competed at the 2009 USAPL Bench Press Nationals in Cleveland last Sunday. He pressed 280kg (617lbs) on his third attempt after missing his opener 275kg (606lbs) twice. The 280 kg was good enough for third place in the Men’s Open SHW division.
The Massachusetts/Rhode Island Record Breakers was billed as the rematch between the Iron Revolution and Next-Level after the Iron Revolution beat Next-Level at the 2009 New England’s. It was agreed that each team would have four lifters and that the meet would be decided by the total sum of wilks scores of each team. Joe Nappa and Andrew Mangan lead the way for Next-Level with a dominate performance. In the end this was a battle of attrition as Iron Revolution saw two of its lifters bomb in the bench and Next-Level had one lifter pull out. Overall it was a great meet and there are rumors that other teams want in on the action next year.
The on-line entry form is now available for the Massachusetts/ Rhode Island Record Breakers in the Team Store. The meet will take place at Bay State Athletic Club in Scituate, MA at 11 am weigh-ins will begin at 9am.
